OPERATIONAL BRIEFING / SA-02
The working guide to what Signal Agents do, how assignments work and what the GSR newsroom needs from the field.
Signal Agents are human volunteer contributors and field correspondents who help Ghost Signal Radio gather original material from locations, events, attractions and stories around the country.
Professional experience is useful, but it is not required in every field. Agents may have different strengths. We value integrity, reliability, judgment, communication, curiosity, observation, willingness to learn, respect for people and places, and the ability to follow instructions.
Skills can be developed. Trust has to be earned.
GSR identifies an opportunity and offers or approves coverage.
An Agent identifies something locally and proposes it before representing themselves as assigned.
An Agent submits useful tips, observations, photographs, video, leads or information without a formal assignment.
Nobody may self-deploy under Ghost Signal Radio authority without GSR authorization.

LEARN MORE →THE CORE FIELD TASK
Signal Agents are not expected to write finished articles. Your job in the field is to gather the raw material the GSR newsroom needs to tell the story accurately.
Take clear handwritten, typed or recorded notes about what happened, what stood out, what was new, important details, people you spoke with, useful quotes, atmosphere, unusual observations and anything requiring follow-up. Photography and video should support that same story—not become a pile of random images.
YOUR NOTES SHOULD GIVE US THE STORY.DON’T JUST DOCUMENT THE PLACE. DOCUMENT THE STORY.
Applicants and participating Signal Agents must be at least 18 years old.
The Signal Agent program is currently volunteer and unpaid. Future employment, compensation or advancement cannot be promised.
Being a Signal Agent does not grant unrestricted access to private property, events, venues or attractions. Individual assignments must be authorized by GSR.
Signal Agents may not negotiate, make commitments, enter agreements or speak on behalf of Ghost Signal Radio unless specifically authorized.
